Lily Allen: It's not me it's you

Lily Allen throws us her second album, if you didn't like her first time around then chances are you arn't going to change her mind just because she's had a haircut. If you did like the first one though is it going to be worth dipping your toes in the unknown? Why not? Chances are the waters won't be shark infested :)

Everyone's at it: The verse bounces along merrily. The title suggests everyone's having a bit of the 'under the duvet' dance but it's about people's reliance on drugs (be that paracetemal). Well that's what I got from 30seconds anyway. Still this isn't about the lyrics, the song is a catchy little number. Good start.

The Fear: The first single from the album, you already love it or loathe it. Another catchy tune that sets the sound of this album away from the first. Ark at me talking about music like I know what i'm doing!

Not Fair: The second single from the album, has a spaghetti western 'thing' going on in the background. I know this is getting repetitive but it is another catchy tune. Notice the lyrics toward the end of the snippet '...Oh I lie here in the wet patch in the middle of the bed...' Noice.

22: Lily's voice is bouncing along with this one....yep same old decription. Bouncy, catchy and all that jazz. It seems that once you have heard one track you'll know what to expect here. Not that they all sound the same, just that they have the same sort of vibe to them. I think vibe is still an acceptable descriptive term in this day and age!

I could say: The first slower song on the album, I think I hear violins. Classy! It's still all about Lily's voice which is nice. Wouldn't release this as a single, but that's the first track I've thought since starting this so not too shabby. We all have a single that can live on mp3s and not the airwaves. Next!

Back to the start: Fast, powerful, catchy ( I know I know...leave me be, as a decriptive word it works! This isn't a Guardian album review but a mere blogspot itunes snippet thang!)

Never Gonna Happen: OOOoo I like this, first track to really catch my attention. It reminds me of something, won't be able to share what though as it's stored deep within the brainbox and not on my tongue. Slower than the last, would be nice as the next single. The bets are on!

F**k You: The title pretty much sums this up, I had heard this was aimed at George Bush (junior). Whatever the reason behind it, it's a goodun. Foot tapping goodness. Fuck you very much!

Who'd have known: Bears more than just a passing resemblence to Take That's 'SHINE ON'. It's okay. Not really doing it for me...bit whiney

Chinese: First proper slow track me thinks, the lyrics tumble over the beats at a steady pace. Bit bland. Can I say that? I just did. I might again. Bit bland.

Him: Another slower one, like this one. Think it's more about the lyrics, you wouldn't commision a dance mix.

He wasn't there: An olde worlde feel, not jurassic...50's perhaps? I'm no good at eras as is evident. Slow again, seems the pace of the album starts off fast and slows right down. Naught wrong with that though. Good track, not sure if it's an album finisher though. Didn't leave a lasting impression with me.

So 360 seconds later...

Knock 'em' Out- 'Never gonna happen' stuck like glue, 'The fear' is another goodun (though you may be sick of it by now). 'F**k me', not just for the title but the 30seconds I caught were pretty darn good :)

Not Big-
'Chinese' was just very forgettable, 'He wasn't there' didn't do it for me. Pretty dissapointing as a final track.

Out of 5...

I would say 3 out of 5 based on what I heard, it started off well and then took a slight slope downwards with the slower tracks. Not just because they were slow but they didn't sit that well with me ;) I think this sits nicely alongside her previous album, a slightly different flavour with quite a few stand out tracks. Worth taking a looksie

(ONLY 30 SECONDS OF EACH TRACK WERE LISTENED TO, THESE WERE THE 30 SECONDS iTUNES PROVIDES,THEREFORE THESE MAY NOT BE THE BEST SNIPPETS OF THE SONG. THE ABOVE REVIEW AND SCORE WERE BASED ON 360 SECONDS WORTH OF 'EXTRACTS')
